Join the club. It's supposed to be gorgeous, but so expensive, since all the boating and diving lisencing is owned by various tourism co's. Also, I'm right over the other side. But we have an absolutely stunning reef called the Ningaloo in the tropical part of our end, so that'll do for now.

Hey hey New York in the house. Amd no, I don't live in the city. I'm from Long Island which is pretty suburban. And I sure wouldn't mind visiting Britain, Scottland, or Austrailia.

Post 11 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Monday, 16-May-2005 16:25:44

I am from the UK, England to be precice and .. can I just clarify one thing above ... Scotland is actually part of Britain, britain consists of, England,Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales. sorry don't mean to sound patronising, but a couple of people have said things recently about scotland not being part of britain when in actual fact it is, smiles.

According to Greenpeace and National Geographic the reef is supposed to be suffering due to it's fame..

Post 17 by Resonant (Find me alive.) on Tuesday, 17-May-2005 11:17:31

It's suffering a bit from all the water traffic, but mostly from choral-eating organisms, like the crown-of-thorns starfish, which aren't native to the region but multiply like... well-fed starfish over there. At my end, we've recently had a bit of a breakthrough with the Ningaloo, two years of protesting and petitioning and we have an extra 20 percent of it protected as natural reserve, and put a few kinks in plans to build a bloody great tourist resort right on the beach. The resort may yet go ahead, but the government's uncertain enough about it as to be very cautious. They've been sending plans back without the stamp of approval for 18-months now, so wish us luck.

I, am from the little town of Dewsbury in England. It's between Leeds, Wakefield, Huddersfield. Bradford and Sheffield as well as Hull York are nearby. We're about half way between both the east and west coast.
